Seven Dino Rhymes for Melodious Bowing Chimes
Ha ha it’s a bit of a mouthful isn’t it?!
The idea is that by using fun and simple rhymes and songs, we can introduce some key bowing concepts! 🥳

Zlata, Teachosaurus and creator of the Violin Lounge actually helped me write the Dino version of Baa Baa Black Sheep years ago as a joke, making us giggle like naughty school kids. Upon reliving our youth, we realised this song would actually engage more kiddos in their learning!

What I love is the sheer volume of techniques we can cover by using these rhymes:

🦖 Pre bowing movements away from the instrument
🦖 Bow control, distribution, speed and tone quality
🦖 Simple detaché which can be extended to a simple martelé
🦖 Pre ricochet and pre spiccato for a relaxed bowing hand and arm
🦖 Bowing rhythms
🦖 Tremolo
🦖 Bowing on one string
🦖 String crossings
I would love to hear how you go with these?!
